ZambiaSIG Program

Zambia School on Internet Governance

The Zambia School on Internet Governance (ZambiaSIG) is an intensive capacity-building program designed to develop a critical mass of informed stakeholders who can effectively participate in internet governance discussions. Our program covers technical, policy, and regulatory aspects of internet governance.

Founded in 2022 by the Internet Society Zambia Chapter, ZambiaSIG originated from the recognition that few Zambians were involved in regional and global internet governance forums. The program aims to shape the Zambian Internet Governance landscape and influence at least one specific internet-linked policy or governance issue each year. It equips participants from government, civil society, academia, and the technical community to actively participate in shaping internet policy for Zambia's development.

The program involves completing prerequisite online courses from ICANN Learn and the Internet Society Youth IGF Ambassador program, followed by a 3-day in-person event that precedes the Zambia Internet Governance Forum. It selects 20 fellows for the in-person session, with some virtual attendance options, and is open to a broad audience without targeting specific stakeholder groups.
